Emberfall Saga

Emberfall Saga is the comfort RPG we keep going back to. You build a small party, explore a quiet fallen kingdom, and fight battles on a grid where positioning matters as much as raw stats. Nothing here is grindy for the sake of it — side quests are short and usually hand you a useful trinket rather than busywork.

Everything downloads once and stays on the phone, so you can play through a two-hour flight and not lose a step. The writing surprised us; characters have actual quirks, and a few late-game choices genuinely changed how scenes played out.

If you want a long single-player adventure you can dip into for twenty minutes at a time, this is the pick. Battery use is reasonable too, which we appreciate on the road.
